Okay, as a long-time Conan fan (I realised tonight that I've been watching him for like... 9 years, wtf) I just have to get this out.

That was so hard to watch. Jesus.

That is a man with impeccable character, talent and integrity, and NBC are a bunch of douchebags. Leno is King Douchebag.

You gave him his dream and took it away and he thought of all the other people involved instead of strictly considering himself. I just watched him almost cry on national TV over this journey, over his career, over the last seven months, which spoke volumes to me.

Leno, I hope you enjoy your sinking ship. I won't be watching. In fact, I won't be watching NBC at all. I HAVE NO REASON TO, NOW.

Respect, Conan. Serious respect.

Yeah, I saw it at the time and it was just heart-wrenching... I seriously do not understand how anyone can't support him after all of this.

I feel the same way!

I remember struggling to stay up late in late middle school/high school so I could catch Conan even though I had to be up really early in the morning. He's been my favorite late night host for as long as I can remember, and I can't believe he got so screwed over.

Same here! Or alternatively recording the replay at like 2pm every day. Conan, you taught me how to use my VCR's timer. What a guy. 8D

Well... I just hope he'll get a better deal elsewhere. Maybe with FOX, but I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them for a long-term deal, fffff.

Ugh, I hate Letterman. XD I don't think he's exactly the picture of morality and reliability, either.

The blame is a combination, but ultimately it was Leno's decision to screw Conan over by deciding "hey, I'm not retired yet, so I'm just gonna steal his thunder!" which WAS fucking Conan in the ear with a fork. Plus, dude, nobody gets big ratings right away in these shows. It takes time to build the audience. The network's decision to buy out Conan rather than Leno was the biggest douche move, though, you're right. Because an extra $40mil is a big difference, they comparatively couldn't afford to lose Leno when he decided he wasn't going to fuck off and cruise Burbank in his restored cars 24/7 like he'd said he would.

Honestly, I don't know how Fallon is still on TV, either. He's terrible at this. Fundamentally a nice guy, but he has no comedian charisma, his jokes are flat, his interviews are dull as hell... I don't get it. @D@

[livejournal.com profile] nepenthes59 linked the "end speech" above, so you can at least watch that! I'm going to download it, though. Sentimental value, now.
